We were wheels up out of Prince
George at 11:00 AM. We had an uneventful
trip to Bellingham with a fuel stop in Williams Lake. Although, we were bucking headwinds the entire
way and it was very hot for us Alaskans.
We cleared customs in Bellingham
and tried to get out as quickly as possible to make our way to Arlington with
some time to spare for a relaxing evening.
It was not to be. During the mag
check at run-up we had about a 175 RPM drop and rough running engine (normal
drop is 75-100 RPM). We taxied to a
local maintenance facility and pulled the lower plugs to check for
fowling. Two of the lower plugs had lead
deposits. A quick run though the sand
blaster fixed our plugs and we were back on our way.
We arrived at Arlington at 7:30 PM
but didn’t make it to bed until late. Another
long day.
